The patented technology of a Blunt™ umbrella is a massive leap forward in umbrella design. We've completely re-designed the frame to create a super-tight tensioned canopy that can handle wind extremely well. The Blunt™ umbrella is also safer and more durable, and it has its own distinctive style. 

If you ask us, it's how umbrellas should have been designed in the first place. 

During the development stage, all Blunt™ umbrellas are tested in a high-speed wind tunnel. And the tests show that all our stick models will cope with wind strengths far beyond the levels you or I would feel comfortable using an umbrella in.

If and when you do use your Blunt™ umbrella on a windy day, the first thing you'll notice is how stable it is to hold. The Radial Tensioning System creates a very aerodynamic canopy that's been specially tuned to sit at the best angle to the wind, offering maximum strength and maximum coverage.

With its revolutionary Radial Tensioning System, we've designed  Blunt™ umbrellas to be inversion resistant. However, in (very) extreme weather conditions, they can turn inside out. But there's no need to throwaway your Blunt™ umbrella. The specially reinforced frame geometry means you can easily flip your Blunt™ back on itself without doing any damage. 

Inversion resistance varies from model to model. But if you're prone to particularly bad weather where you live, our range of stick umbrellas offer the best performance in this respect.

Yes. Every Blunt™ umbrella comes with a five-year global warranty. And if you look after it properly, it will serve as your reliable, bad-weather companion for years and years to come. 

Each Blunt™ umbrella is made to a painstakingly high standard and undergoes a 38-point independent quality control check to make it best in class. However, if within the first five years of use your Blunt™ umbrella fails to work properly, or it just isn't up to scratch in materials or workmanship, return it to your nearest Blunt  distributor. We'll either repair or replace it. And if something happens to your Blunt  outside of this five-year period, please still contact us and we'll try our best to help.

This warranty doesn't cover normal wear and tear, or improper care or use. And if you're returning your umbrella, you might be asked by the distributor in your country to show proof of purchase.

Yes. The smallest umbrella we currently make is the Blunt™ Metro. Compact and strong, it's a 2-stage collapsible umbrella that's about 36cm/14in long. 

This will easily fit in your briefcase or bag, however, it's slightly too big for the standard purse. The smaller the umbrella is, the more we have to compromise on strength. And we've not yet designed a smaller Blunt™ that meets our painstakingly high standards for performance and durability. But we're always evolving, so watch this space.

Out of the nine models in the range, the Blunt™ Lite is our lightest full-length umbrella to date.

If you’re a mega umbrella enthusiast, you might have noticed that Blunt™ umbrellas in general are slightly heavier than other umbrellas. This is because of the superior construction behind each one. But in real terms, a bit of extra weight is a small price to pay for such a strong umbrella.

Blunt™ umbrellas might look stylish as anything. But there’s a lot more going on under that beautiful canopy than you think.

Designed with our revolutionary Radial Tensioning System – which creates superior canopy tension in a totally different way to traditional umbrellas – the Blunt™ umbrella is the only umbrella in the world with a fully tensioned canopy.

This is a big deal because the structural integrity of any umbrella is defined by its canopy. The more tension you have in the canopy, the more effective the umbrella will be, come rain, wind, hail or snow.

The Radial Tensioning System is made up of three inventions or mechanisms:

1 – The Double Struts
As the Blunt™ canopy unfurls, the Double Struts redirect the opening effort into the telescopic Floating Ribs in an outward motion.

2 – The Floating Ribs
Designed to transfer the opening force into the patented Blunt™ Tips, the telescopic Floating Ribs reach out like fingers stretching into a glove.

3 – The Blunt™ Tips

The Blunt™ Tips open like miniature umbrellas. This evenly distributes the tension right to the edge of the canopy where it’s needed the most, giving the umbrella the means to combat gusts and winds easily.

It’s the Blunt™ Tips around the edge of the canopy that give our umbrellas their iconic rounded silhouette. But these do more than just look stylish.

The Blunt™ Tips play a huge part in our Radial Tensioning System, giving the canopy much greater tension. Opening like miniature umbrellas, the Blunt™ Tips evenly distribute tension to the canopy’s edge where it’s needed the most.

The rounded nature of the Blunt™ Tips also make our umbrellas safer. So you don’t have to worry about poking people in the eye as you navigate a busy street on a wet and wild day.

Greig Brebner - a very tall Product Design Engineer from New Zealand. 

When he was living in London, Greig noticed how unsafe umbrellas were (being so tall, he often got poked in the eye by them). He also noticed how much umbrellas had become a commodity throwaway item, mainly due to poor-quality materials and an outdated, flimsy design. So he set out to re-invent the umbrella. 

Initially, he was unaware of how constrained the working area was - the basic design of the modern umbrella hadn't changed since 1928! But he said he'd re-invent the umbrella. So he began by re-designing the umbrella's mechanisms. 

As it turns out, it was a huge challenge. But he didn't give up (thanks Greig).

Blunt™ umbrellas are manufactured near Xiamen in China. They're produced in a factory that was set up by a renowned German umbrella company; it's now run by a Taiwanese company that has been manufacturing umbrellas for over 50 years. 

We partnered with this factory because they're highly regarded in both Europe and the USA for their commitment to quality. They share our belief in producing best-in-class products, which aligns perfectly with our vision to be the world's leading umbrella brand.

Granted, they're not the cheapest makers of umbrellas. But we never trade price for quality.
